Description
Castaic Lake State Recreation Area is a sprawling 11,000-acre park in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, serving as one of the largest reservoirs in the California State Water Project. It is uniquely split into two sections: the Upper Lake, which buzzes with high-speed powerboats and jet skis, and the Lower Lake (Lagoon), a tranquil spot dedicated to non-motorized paddling and seasonal swimming. Beyond the water, the park is a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts, offering world-class bass fishing, overnight campgrounds, and miles of rugged trails for hiking and mountain biking. Managed by Los Angeles County, it provides a crucial natural escape for Southern California residents, combining essential water infrastructure with diverse recreational opportunities.
