Description
The Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles has long been one of Hollywood’s most recognizable filming locations, with its lavish Italian Renaissance interiors appearing in more than 300 films, television shows, and music videos. Opened in 1923, the hotel’s ornate ballrooms, marble columns, gilded ceilings, and elegant corridors have allowed filmmakers to transform it into everything from luxury hotels and government buildings to grand event spaces. One of its most memorable appearances was in Ghostbusters (1984), where the hotel stood in for New York City’s fictional Sedgewick Hotel during the famous Slimer sequence. The Biltmore also appeared in Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Bachelor Party (1984), and Rocky III (1982), where its Crystal Ballroom was converted into a boxing arena. In Pretty in Pink (1986), the hotel’s South Galleria and ballroom provided the setting for the iconic senior prom. More recently, the Biltmore has been featured in films such as Independence Day (1996), Chinatown (1974), and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023), as well as Taylor Swift’s “Delicate” music video. Its timeless elegance and remarkably well-preserved historic interiors continue to make the Millennium Biltmore one of the most sought-after filming locations in Los Angeles and a lasting symbol of Hollywood’s golden age. The Millennium Biltmore remains a prime destination for filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts alike.
